The Chicco fit360 is the Ultimate Rotating Car Seat

When I first had my son, there were only 2 or 3 rotating car seat options available on the market. We were coming out of the unspeakable times (read: pandemic), and there was a major supply chain issue.

Toilet paper was no longer in short supply, but my options for in-stock infant car seats was fairly limited.

Ultimately, we decided on the Nuna Pipa LX for its light weight, its extended canopy, and its compatibility with the Nuna Trvl stroller for a complete travel system. It worked great. Seriously, amazing. The car seat was truly light, and the stroller had (and still has) an unbeatable fold.

This system worked great for us for about a year at which point the combined weight of our Bubba Guy and the infant car seat was just too heavy for me to carry comfortably.

Luckily, we had received a gift certificate to a local baby store and were able to use it towards the Nuna Revv.

Experience with Nuna Revv

While I missed being able to dock an infant seat onto our stroller, the rotating feature of our new convertible car seat made buckling our toddler in very easy.

The cons, however, were that the Nuna Revv was very expensive at $650, and the height and weight limits for a convertible car seat were on the lower end with rear-facing only going to 30lbs and 34″ tall.

Our son is very big for his age and was consistently in the 90th percentile. I knew that I wanted to rear-face for as long as possible and that I would likely have to purchase another car seat or booster down the line.

Unfortunately, down the line came sooner than anticipated as we were planning our first family vacation and I hadn’t accounted for air travel.

Experience with Nuna Rava

At this point we were comfortable with the Nuna brand, and I found a lightly used Nuna Rava on Facebook Marketplace. This became our travel car seat because it was FAA approved. At the time, no rotating car seat had FAA approval.

It is important to note that some models of the Nuna Rava were recently recalled for a harness function issue. To check if you have been affected by this recall, visit the Nuna site here to request for a remedy kit.

If you are still with me, that makes three, yes THREE car seats by the time our son was 18 months old.

My husband and I very quickly realized that while the Rava was a very comfortable seat for our baby, we sorely missed the rotating feature of the Revv. By the end of our family vacation, our backs were sore from bending over and twisting to buckle in our son.

It was around this time that we were expecting baby #2, aka Bee Bee Gurl and I had to figure out what our car seat situation would look like. The obvious choice was that Bee would use the Nuna Pipa, but when she would inevitably grow out of the infant seat, I realized that I could not justify paying full price for another Nuna Revv.

I researched and found that at this point in time, there were more options available for rotating car seats with most car seat manufacturers having at least one rotating option. Enter the Chicco Fit 360.

Experience with Chicco fit360

While I think I still would use an infant seat for the first year, I wish the Chicco Fit 360 was available when we were shopping for a convertible car seat the first time around.

After three car seats, my husband and I knew what features we really used with our family, and we had very specific things we were looking for in a convertible carseat.

  1. Safety: Most car seat manufacturers do not release crash test ratings with the exception being Clek, however all are required to meet the same standard for safety. The Chicco fit360 does not have any added chemical flame retardants which is an important feature for some moms.
  2. Rotating Seat: Coming from the Nuna Revv, I felt that the Chicco fit360 did not “glide” as easily as the Revv, but the difference was negligible and I no longer notice it.
  3. Higher Height/Weight Limits: The Chicco fit360 is better for extended rear facing as it has upper limits of 40lbs for weight and 43″ for height.
  4. Cost Effective: The Chicco fit360 retails for $429.99 but often goes on sale. The Chicco website offers 20% off for a first time purchase, however they do charge for return shipping.
  5. FAA Approved: While it can be very cumbersome to carry a car seat on board, it is the safest way for your child to fly and the only way to guarantee that your car seat will not get damaged in the cargo hold. If unable to use onboard, I highly recommend gate checking not just your car seat but your stroller as well.
  6. Detachable Base: This is actually a bonus feature that I did not seek out but was what sold me on the Chicco fit360! With two children and two vehicles, we would only need two seats and 4 total bases. Having the ability to move seats between vehicles was a feature I really missed when my son graduated from an infant seat to a convertible.

Chicco fit360 Optional Accessories and Additional Notes

The Chicco fit360 has a few different accessories available. If you have more than one vehicle or have another caretaker who may be driving your child around, additional bases are an obvious choice. As it is, the additional bases is only available at a few retailers, Amazon, Albee Baby, and Chicco.

I had reward points with Albee as well as a coupon and so I ordered an additional base from them and the shipping was very fast. Chicco offers a 20% off first time purchasing online, so that can be a really good option as well, but both Albee and Chicco charge for return shipping. Amazon does not have as many sales as Albee and Chicco, but it does offer free returns to an Amazon site. The base retails for $179.99.

The fit360 also offers a LeverLock door cover as well as a mirror that can attach to the base. When the fit360 was first released, there were some reports that children were able to kick open the door latch. While alarming, this did not affect the functionality nor safety of the seat. I personally have never had a problem with my child kicking the latch open, however I am really happy to see that Chicco addressed this with the option of a cover. The LeverLock door cover retails for $19.99.

The attachable mirror accessory, while nice, is not something that I would recommend at $39.99. It would only really be useful in rear-facing mode. My choice instead would be the Itomoro Dual Channel Baby Car Mirror Camera which retails for $65.99 but often goes on sale and has coupons. The video quality is clear both in daylight and at night, and when your child switches from rear to forward facing, you can change the position of the camera.

This has been one of my favorite baby purchases as we use ASL with our children and are able to see if they need something. I will note that some users report the suction base/adhesion to be lacking. It works fine in my vehicle, but my husband ended up installing a mount in his car for the monitor as well as for his phone when using GPS.

Overall, we have no real complaints with either the Chicco fit360 nor the Nuna Revv. Both are great car seats from reputable brands.

The materials on the Revv feel a bit more premium, but the fit360 materials are still very nice. The button to pull and tighten the harness straps is easier to depress on the Revv, but other than that. There are a lot of thoughtful features on the fit360 I really appreciate.

  • The cups are better integrated on the fit 360.
  • The fit360 has a magnetic chest clip.
  • I prefer the fit360 side buckle holders vs the Revv side magnets.
  • The fit360 has a flex-forward crotch buckle that stays out of the way making it even easier to load your child in.

The newer version of the fit360, the Chicco fit360 zip allows you to unzip the the fabric out for easy washing and includes the mirror accessory, however at $479.99 vs. the current sale’s price of $343.99, I feel the original fit360 is a better value.

The Chicco fit360 retails for $429.99 but is currently on sale at several retailers.

Currently available on Amazon for $343.99 with prime pricing. Returns are free to local Amazon drop off centers.

Currently available on/at Target also for $343.99, however the car seat trade in event is currently going on right now! You can stack the car seat trade in coupon with the existing sale and save even more if you purchase with a Target red card. Returns are free and can be made either with a shipping label or in store.

Who is this car seat for?

Who is this car seat for? This car seat is for parents and caregivers who value an easy to install, easy to use car seat that can be used in rear or front facing mode with one installation. This makes it ideal if you will be driving children of different sizes. We have a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old and it does not matter which seat either of them use because it is fully adjustable.

It is also ideal for families with more than one vehicle as you can purchase additional bases instead of purchasing an entire new seat.

I would not recommend this or any rotating car seat if you drive anything smaller than a crossover-sized vehicle. I drive a Volvo XC40, and at 5’5″, I have just enough space behind me to sit in a comfortable upright position.

My husband is 5’8″ and he can drive my car for short distances but prefers his car for longer car rides.

This type of car seat is also not suitable if you need to seat more than two children in a car seat in one row. Also, if your vehicle is narrower, you may only be able to rotate one seat at a time.

Conclusions

If I were to start over in our convertible car seat buying process, I would get the Chicco fit360 from Target and take advantage of the car seat trade in program. You can trade in a car seat or a base, and receive a 20% off coupon in the Target Circle app redeemable up to two times! This is ideal if you have two children.

The Target car seat trade-in program ends on 05/10/2025, so if you are in need of a car seat or other baby gear, I strongly recommend you purchase now as many baby brands will be increasing prices soon with looming tariffs.

For additional bases, I would order from Chicco unless if you have rewards to apply from Albee.
